About Us

Kalenauskas Farm is a fifth-generation family-owned and operated farm in Watertown CT since 1914. We have transitioned from a dairy farm that shipped milk on the commodity market to raising beef cattle and lamb for direct consumer markets. Our family focuses on caring for the land that provides feed for our livestock and ensuring our livestock lives in the most comfortable environment possible and always has a high-quality feed available.

Our Products

Our family strives to produce the highest quality proteins our area can produce. We focus our efforts on sustainably raising the food we feed our livestock, providing the highest level of animal care we can, and leaving the consumer the ability to feel good about where their proteins come from. We care for over 400 acres of farmland, manage over 250 head of livestock, and stock our shelves with the most fulfilling cuts of beef and lamb for your table.

Our Practices

Our field practices include reduced tillage, cover cropping, feeding the soil, not the plant, and minimizing inputs. These practices help with water retention, weed pressures, sustainability, and reductions of input costs. Our animal practices include providing nutritious consistent quality feed, and as much access to green pastures as possible. We believe that animal health derives from access to sunshine and open spaces.

Labeling and licensing categorize farms into stigmas and unrealistic expectations. Want to fully understand why a farmer does what they do? Please ask! We are always open for conversation.
